SATC - My Answers

Taken from a place earlier in blogherstory...

...In celebration of the movie, which comes out this weekend, I've decided to finally ANSWER these questions.

I thought about them after a delightful first date last night when the gentleman inquired about the ending of my last "relationship"/encounter and I paused.
He then filled that silence with these words: "Isn't anything worth having, worth fighting for?"
I got scared at the moment, thinking that my composure and my eyes were giving me away, for quiet as it's kept, I still having some feelings for that negro....

In an effort to NOT write a manuscript --

1 - How do you know when it's right?
-- I haven't gotten this "right" in over 10 years, so I can't say I have a clue. What I remember is that it is effortless. Or seems that way. Things flow, easily, continually, even with the bumps in the road.

2 - Samantha says, "Women are for friendships, men are for fucking." Men, consider the reverse as well. Can you be friends with an ex?
-- I agree with Samantha, to an extent. I don't fuck my friends. Eww. Yuck. But I have great friendships with men. If I ever consider fucking them, we won't stay friends. And to quell all the naysayers, I never fucked Constantine. He remains my best friend. Next....

3 - To be in a couple, do you have to put your single self on a shelf?
-- You have to change your thinking. You can enjoy aspects of your single life, but realize that it's not just about you anymore.

4 - When it comes to relationships, how do you know when enough is enough?
-- When your sanity is questioned and you begin to lose sleep. Change your damn mind and move on.

5 - Are there certain things in a relationship that one should never say?
-- Untruths.

6 - Charlotte asked, Do we really want these things (dates, relationships, soulmates, babies) or are we just programmed?
-- It's very individual. I do want dates -- GOOD DATES. I so desire a HEALTHY, LONG LASTING, relationship. Soulmates, ah.....come back to me on that one, but my gawd I can't wait to bring a baby, or 2 or 3 into the world. That is a miracle I am really looking forward to!

7 - If it's true that orgasms are better when one is in love, just how much of sex is the connection?
--'Tiz true...but orgasms are delightful achieved in or out of love. But in love...wow.

8 - Miranda says,"Who we are in bed are who we are in life. I never met a man who was bad in bed that was good at life." How do you know if you're good in bed?
-- I don't proclaim to be. I'm not one to flaunt my prowess, but if the man keeps coming back then I must be doing something right! Besides it's always such a learning experience...and I enjoy learning LOL

9 - It is said, if you love someone let them go, if they come back it was meant to be. Do you need distance to get close?
-- You shouldn't have to resort to this. Distance may make the heart grow fonder, but I don't think it makes things right.

10 - Just how much does a father-figure or mother-figure figure in relationship building?
-- It matters much. Lawd knows I'm no Daddy's Girl, or a Momma's Girl for that matter, but their relationship and what they've shown and taught me has influenced how I go about building relationships.

11 - If relationships are inevitably a series of compromises, when does the art of compromise become compromising?
-- If only one person is compromising.

12 - Carrie says, "A one minus a 'plus one' feels like it adds up to zero." In other words, do you let the one thing you don't have effect how you feel about everything?
-- Not to the extent of some of my peers. I'm extremely blessed and live a fortunate existence. I don't have a man, nor prospects of a long-term relationship, but that doesn't define me. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't think about it more as I get older.

...::More to Come::...
